Manufacturing usually requires the handling of heavy or bulky materials. Depending on their size and weight, the means available to handle them varies. Regardless of the means used, handling materials involves risk. For that reason, OSHA has chosen to regulate the way materials are handled. 29 CFR 1910 Subpart N includes regulations for powered industrial trucks--such as forklifts, cranes, helicopters, slings, and derricks--and for servicing rim wheels for these vehicles.
