Fall Protection (Construction)

National Summary

Although OSHA does not have a specific general industry rule for fall protection like the one for construction (29 CFR 1926.500), the Agency considers the rule that covers protection of open-sided floors, platforms, and runways (29 CFR 1910.23(c)) and the personal protective equipment rule to serve as fall protection guidelines for general industry workplaces. General industry fall protection requirements cover floor openings; wall openings; and open-sided floors, platforms, and runways.
