National Summary

Construction employers must be responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective fire protection and prevention program at the job site throughout all phases of the construction, repair, alteration, or demolition work. Fire-fighting equipment or a trained and equipped fire-fighting organization (fire brigade) must be provided. The employer must ensure that an alarm system (e.g., telephone system or siren) is established so that employees on the site and the local fire department can be alerted during an emergency.
