Cranes and Derricks (Construction)

National Summary

Construction, by its very nature, involves "handling, storage, use, and disposal" of large, often heavy or bulky, quantities of materials that pose threats to workers. OSHA's construction regulations for Cranes and Derricks are designed to control the risks of slipping or falling materials or of fire or explosion when supplies are not stored or handled properly. As an employer, you are responsible for seeing that your workers use safe work practices in handling the materials of your trade. Though the standards do not specifically require training, there is still a need to familiarize your employees with these practices and enforce them.
