National Summary

OSHA's construction scaffolding requirements can be found in Subpart L of 29 CFR 1926. OSHA requires that: scaffolds must be designed by a qualified person and be constructed and loaded in accordance with that design; a competent person must supervise the erection, movement, alteration, and disassembly of the scaffold as well as inspect it before each work shift or after any occurrence that could affect its structural integrity; and workers must be provided with fall protection and protection from falling objects.
