State:
Driving Safely

National Summary

Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death among workers in the United States. OSHA does not have specific regulations covering motor vehicle safety. However, OSHA recognizes the importance of driving safely and periodically issues bulletins and other information on this topic. In particular, OSHA encourages the use of seat belts and other protective equipment and the elimination of distractions like cell phones while operating a motor vehicle on the job.
