On Thursday, President-elect Donald Trump announced that he plans to nominate Andrew Puzder to serve as Secretary of Labor in Trump’s administration. If confirmed, he would oversee the Department of Labor and its many agencies, which include OSHA, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and many others.
Puzder, 66, is the CEO of CKE Restaurants, Inc., the parent company of fast food chains including Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. He has been an outspoken critic of what he views as excessive government regulation of businesses and was a vocal supporter of Trump throughout the campaign.
In a statement, Trump said Puzder would “fight to make American workers safer and more prosperous by enforcing fair occupational safety standards and ensuring workers receive the benefits they deserve.”
