Excerpt from "Cold Stress Plan"
This cold stress prevention plan applies to any work environment involving extreme cold temperatures. According to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act’s General Duty Clause, an employer “shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees.” Therefore, employers are obligated to protect their workers from injuries and illnesses caused by cold conditions at the workplace.
