Workplace Violence Prevention 2018: How technology and social media can lead to workplace violence
By Ana Ellington, Legal Editor

Most people think of cyberbullying as an issue that affects children and teens in schools, but it has become a challenging reality in the workplace. With the increase of technology and the use of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, employers are seeing an increase in electronic bullying, known as cyberbullying, in the workplace. description

At BLR’s Workplace Violence Prevention Symposium in Savannah, Georgia, March 6 and 7, 2018, Donna Clark-Love, an internationally recognized bully expert and trainer, will present the educational session Cyberbullying, Stalking, and Other Electronic Harassment: Social Media Monitoring to Manage and Mitigate Risk of Online Conduct Escalating to Physical Violence, in which she will focus on the seriousness of this growing problem in the workplace and on strategies for legally dealing with workplace cyberbullying.

In addition to the “Cyberbullying” session, BLR’s Workplace Violence Prevention Symposium, geared to both HR and safety professionals, has many more sessions that will focus on tactical strategies for reducing the risk of security breaches, workplace violence, and legal liabilities through powerful keynotes, sessions, and workshops.

The nation’s leading practical conference on workplace violence prevention provides practical workplace violence prevention training, including:

  • Domestic issue concerns;
  • Dealing with conflicting ideological beliefs;
  • Compliant employment screening practices;
  • Dealing with worker mental health-related issues;
  • And much more.

As always, there will be many opportunities to network with peers and expert presenters and to share ideas of what is working—and not working—in the world of workplace violence prevention. In addition, the conference program has been preapproved for recertification credits that can be applied toward professional development.
