“We are concerned to have found this number of serious safety and health violations at the Hoover Dam plant,” said OSHA Regional Administrator Ken Atha. “We expect to work closely with the agency to rectify these deficiencies and provide a safe and healthful work environment for employees.”

The violations address fall and electrical hazards, machine guarding, PPE, lead, and the potential for overexposure to hexavalent chromium. Other problems involved maintenance of fire-fighting equipment, emergency exits, and lockout/tagout.

Most federal agencies can be cited but not fined for OSHA violations. The U.S. Postal Service is an exception.
