Newest top violations list includes familiar hazards

OSHA has announced its preliminary top 10 most frequently cited safety violations for fiscal year 2012. The list was presented again this year during the National Safety Council annual congress and expo.

The top 10 violation categories are:
1. Fall protection—general requirements.
2. Hazard communication.
3. Scaffolding.
4. Respiratory protection.
5. Ladders.
6. Machine guarding.
7. Powered industrial trucks.
8. Electrical—wiring methods.
9. Lockout/tagout.
10. Electrical—general requirements.

In 2011 the top three violations were, in order, scaffolding, fall protection, and hazard communication.
