Agency releases inspection plan for federal workplaces

OSHA has issued its annual inspection plan under the Federal Agency Targeting Inspection Program (FEDTARG) directive for fiscal year 2013. FEDTARG directs programmed inspections of federal workplaces where a high number of employees have been absent due to on-the-job injuries.

OSHA will inspect all establishments that reported 100 or more such cases in 2012, half of those reporting 50 to 99 cases, and 10 percent of those with 20 to 49 cases. The federal targeting effort began in 2008 in response to a government report that recommended such a program was needed.
