New award recognizes safety innovations. Know someone deserving?

If you, or someone you know, have addressed a workplace safety challenge in an innovative way, consider applying for a new, annual award. Keep reading for more details.

The award is sponsored by Cintas, the safety solutions company, in collaboration with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). According to ASSE, it “recognizes those who bring innovation and creativity to managing safety in the workplace.” Applications must be received by March 31, 2014. The $3,000 prize will be presented at the ASSE professional development conference in June.

Criteria for the award include a variety of management and safety benefits, including process improvement; reduction in accidents, injuries, or fatalities; and elimination or reduction in hazards. The award is open to safety professionals, employees, and others whose innovations have been successfully integrated into the organization.

Notes ASSE President Kathy A. Seabrook, “Organizations around the world have one thing in common: they want workers to leave each day safe and sound. We’re excited to learn more about the creative solutions companies are utilizing today and developing for the future to manage safety and health risks within their organizations.”
