Machine Safety
National Summary

Machines play an important role in most workplaces, but as useful as they are, they also can be very dangerous. Thousands of workers are injured each year in machine accidents, and many of these injuries are very serious and even fatal. Employees who work with machines need to understand their hazards and the rules for working safely with machines. Some of those machine safety hazards include mechanical hazards, such as being caught or crushed; electrical hazards, including fire; and hearing hazards from excessive noise.
