Best practice guide addresses aerial work platforms

A group of five trade organizations has introduced a new guide, Statement of Best Practices of Risk Assessment and Product Selection for Aerial Work Platform Equipment. The new document helps identify hazards and provide guidance for conducting a workplace risk assessment. It also addresses control measures and selection of the best aerial work platform (AWP) equipment for the job.

Creators of the new guidance document say its purpose is to educate the industry on applicable OSHA regulations, as well as ANSI and other standards. They hope it will encourage businesses to incorporate the best practices into their own risk assessments plans.

The guide is available as a free download from the contributing organizations: American Rental Association, Association of Equipment Manufacturers, Associated Equipment Distributors, International Powered Access Federation, and Scaffold and Access Industry Association.
