Accident Reporting (Motor Carriers)
National Summary

A motor carrier must make all records and information about an accident available to an authorized representative or special agent of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, or authorized enforcement agency upon request. The motor carrier must give the authorized agent all reasonable assistance in the investigation of an accident, including full responses to any questions of the inquiry. An accident register must be maintained for three years after an accident.
