All motor carriers must make all records and information about accidents available to an authorized representative of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), or to an authorized enforcement agency upon requeset. Motor carriers must also give the authorized agent all reasonable assistance in the investigation of an accident, including full responses to any questions of the inquiry. An accident registry must be maintained for three years after an accident.
